Just realised there doesnt seem to be a thread about this yet. how unusual! what are people thinking about this now we're getting closer to having to play it?

When the piece came out at first people seemed rather aprehensive about it, has this changed after getting to know it a little more?

It comes across repetative and a struggle to take seriously sometimes, for example, the Euphonium cadenza (call to prayer) and the funky egyption timp exposure.
It sounds like he has taken rather large influences from other pieces that he has either composed or heard.
E.G Dream catchers, jurassic park, dark side of the moon.
but over all i think i'll have some fun listening to some bands playing it :)

( i hope you older people have noticed i have improved my spelling and don't use txt speak. THANKS KATE :) )

Because of the obvious eastern influnces and John Williams bits, one bunch I know have christened it "Hindu-Anna-Jones.".... which I quite like. :D

Turkish Indiana with the theme from beauty and the beast (tale as old as time). See if you can spot the 633 squadron phrase too!

Anyone else noticed segment from Mahler 1? The 'drip drop' bit?

The piece is very much based on his Dark Side of the Moon! Come on plc, lets have some originl ideas!

Which consequently sounds very similar to the Batman film score by Elfman.

Or a bit like Phil Harpers 'Legend of Sangeet'.

Usually test pieces grown on me. This hope! Cheese is the word I'm looking for.

More cheese than Harrods Food Hall - that's a lot of cheese.

I am quite interested in hearing it

But to be fair, even if it is regurgitated, I have enjoyed everything he has written so far and there arent many in the banding world who can touch him
