Signature Tunes

    Had a lesson with Brett Baker last night. I was picking through a few solos and eventually settled for "Thoughts of Love". Only then he told me "Oh, I know that one, I've been playing it for years! Just put it on a CD in fact". Talk about putting pressure on the performance!

    So just wondering, have any of you had to play a piece that someone in the audience was famous for?

    On the same lines, I once played Dance Movements in the National Concert Band Finals with Philip Sparke (the composer, the those of you who don't know it) adjudicating! Talk about pressure (anyone who knows this piece will understand, its rock hard!) Though we did get a Gold Award so we couldn't have done that badly. :D

    This year, the uni band is playing Tameside Overture by Philip Sparke.
    I'm worried that he is going to be the man in the preverbial box in a fortnight in Northampton!

    As for a signiture piece, the Uni band dosen't have one as such, but we do a mean rendition of Spandau Ballet and Gold (sung (well attermpted! :? )) at the post-contest social :D
