Sellers International Band are delighted to announce the signing of Stephanie Barratt as the band's new Principal Cornet.

Steph is a current student of Professor David King at Salford University and is in the second year of a BA Hons degree in Music where she is specialising in performance and has spent the last 2 years as principal cornet of the University Band. Before moving to the UK to study, Steph was the Australian Open Trumpet Champion at the age of 15 as well as the Junior Champion of Champions.

Having arrived in the UK in 2005 Steph previously occupied the repiano cornet seat with the YBS Band and is looking forward to taking up the end chair with Sellers.

Steph said “I am delighted to have accepted this position with Sellers International. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Kirsty Abbott is a challenge that I am looking forward to and I hope to do the band proud, starting with the upcoming Grand Shield.”

Steph made her debut with Sellers at a joint concert with Sellers International Youth Band at St Paul's Hall, Huddersfield, on Sunday 22nd April.

Another recent recruit to the Sellers cornet ranks is David Karran, who joins the band on 3rd Cornet from Slaithwaite. David, who hails from the Isle of Man, is a cornet student of Phillip McCann at Huddersfield University. He replaces Hannah Hughes, who left the band after the recent regional championships. Sellers would like to thank Hannah for her contribution and commitment during her time with the band.

Oooh good choice, Steph is awesome! Heard her at the YBS Regent hall concert after Nationals. She played the razzy jazzy solo in earthwalk from windows of the world...stunning!
