    Hello all,

Flowers Youth Band were formed in February 2008, after nearly a year of hard work we are entering our first conest in January and are looking for more to enter. Has anyone any suggestions for any youth band/unregistered band contests that are commutable within the day from Gloucester that we could enter?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That is the "contest" that FYB have entered in January (although technically it is a festival!)

Michelle are you looking for contests where you can play your adult helpers from Flowers main band or do you have enough members for it just to be for your kids?

If you don't need to play th adults you could consider participating in the Music For Youth Regional Festival Series which is not actually a contest as such but would give the kids (under 19) the chance to perform a 10 minute programme and possibly be selected to perform at the National Festival of Music For Youth at Symphony Hall in July as Forest of Dean Area Youth Brass Band did last year. There are regional events all over the country from about Feb - April and I would think that your nearest regional would be at the Brimingham Conservatoire.

The website is if you are interested.
