The newly launched charity Brass Band Aid (BBA) has scooped a plethora of Awards in what is its inaugural year.
In the space of just one week prior to Christmas BBA, which was only launched earlier in 2005, clinched four awards; The British Bandsman’s own award, the award for Best Newcomer from and two awards from including the award for Best CD and Briony Thompson (one of the young determined, driving forces behind the charity) was named Bandsperson of the Year.
The first few months of BBA’s life has been astoundingly successful, with over £15,000 raised to help build schools in Ethiopia and the success of BBA is owed to a mutual combination of the work of the people behind it and the support of the banding community which has helped raise thousands of pounds through concerts, collections, donations and the purchase of the Brass Band Aid CD.
Plans for 2006 are already being put in place and it is hoped that BBA will reach its next financial target soon into the year.
The team at BBA would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported it so far. Here’s to continuing success in 2006 and beyond.
