Weyhey!!!! Fantastic result for the 'band across the water!' in the 3rd Section. I don't think our youth band managed to come first and second though!
sorry not got that info, but keep checking back, i'll update my post as soon as i have some more info:tup
http://www.awooler.demon.co.uk/hove2006.htm Please note: West Ham won the FA Cup Semi Final today as well
Yes, YWDB won the march too. We had a great day in Hove - well done to all other bands today as well that contributed to a successful contest.
Blimey Andy you got those in fast! , and many thanks for the loan of the Timps. Well done to the organisers for another year of this super contest I always enjoy Hove it's a lovely hall to play in. I have this sneaky feeling they won't be allowing us to play 2nd section next year .
Which is even more surprising considering the state he was in :guiness And well done to WHU by the way.
Looks like he passed out before having a chance to post the 1st and Championship section results!!! Anyone know what they were? I'd hazard a guess that either Friary Guildford or Panta Rhei won the Champ section!
Indeed - it did take a little longer than usual! The complete results will be posted as soon as I have them from the association secretary.
But for now I can tell you: Champ Section: 1. Friary 2. Panta Rhei March: Friary Best Basses: Panta Rhei 1st Section: 1. Poole 2. Horsham 3. Sandhurst 6. Crystal Palace 7. Chichester Don't know any others in the 1st I'm afraid. I'm sure Andy will get rid of his hangover and post them soon
We were pleased with our result considering our playing was a bit tatty. We played Philip Sparke's Tryptych which is always good for a top finish, what did everyone else play? I think the band before us played Moorside suite and I listened to BAe Sytems play Blazon. 'the_drew' did us proud on principle. It was Lindsey, our cornet players last job for us now her family have moved to Cornwall so we sent her up to collect the prize. The baton has been passed onto St Keverne to carry on with her education in the brass band world. Went for a great curry at the Ashoka afterwards to celebrate my birthday (thanks for the recomendation Andy). Bought a Faxx mouthpiece as a prezzie for myself.
I was there playing with Sandhurst (3rd in 1st section - whoopeee!!) and thought that the band played extremely well! (But I loved the piece too!!)
