It's thanks to people who take this incorrect stance that I ended up at the Albert Hall a week early to find Ronan Keating on the bill instead of NYBB of Great Britain. Grrr.

:tup for unequivocal use of English language and dates, B-E. Unfortunately, I can't be there, as my wife and I are away for our wedding anniversary!

Shanklin town will be there in the 2nd section even though we have been missed on the scaba page. And of course our youth band is THE youth section

And Cranbrook are on there even though we have withdrawn. We were going to do a day transfer of a percusionist from the first section, but didn't think it was fair for them to be hanging around for most of the day with the second section having been moved to first on.

The first results of the day are on the scaba website.

We will add to them as the day progresses and then place them all on here.

Does anyone know what the test pieces played in the first section were? I only heard Battle (Force of Destiny) and Horsham (Symphony of Thanksgiving).

Second section was, as I understand it:

Olney Town - Variations on 'Laudate Dominum' (Gregson)
    Battle Town - Dimensions
Medway Concert - Music for a Festival
Epsom & Ewell Silver - Diversions (Variations on a Swiss Folk Song - Sparke)
Regent Community - Variations on 'Laudate Dominum'
    LGB - Purcell Variations
    Wantage 'B' - Dimensions (?)
Cold Ash - Variations on 'Laudate Dominum'
Shanklin Town - Dark Side of the Moon
Snowdown Colliery - Variations on 'Laudate Dominum'

BBR have Northfleet playing 'Renaissance', but are still missing pieces for Fairlop and BAE Systems. Thanks for the others you've listed - now added. I will check on the Wantage B piece - my father plays for them. I don't suppose you know whether any of those Laudate Dominums were the original or the revised version?

Incidentally I spot that we have identical placings and draw in the 1st section of 5 bands - this seems a bit suspect - did all 5 bands really place in draw order?

    Apparently it wasn't Dimensions...

AFAIK Regent played the revised Laudate and the other 3 did the original.
At one point yesterday I knew all the pieces in every section, but I've played, had beer and slept since then (sorry!) if I remember any I'll add them.

And yes, the draw no. and placings all matched in that section - don't think I've ever seen that before.

I've seen it for up to 3 bands before - never for as many as 5! I will add a note specifying that this is actually correct, because it does look quite like a mistake on the part of the person entering the data...

I heard there had been one revised Laudate; I didn't hear it unfortunately, apparently it's quite a marked difference. I do love the original though (it's a good concert item, too).

There was one section at the Scottish Area a few years back where the six bands were placed in draw order*... I wonder what the record for this is?

*Can't justify trawling through the archives to check which, sorry.
