Sandhurst Silver Band has appointed Ian McElligott as resident Musical Director. Ian is well known in banding circles, having conducted top names such as Grimethorpe, Brighouse & Rastrick, Desford Colliery, Scottish Co-op and Thoresby Colliery Band in contests and concerts since leaving the army as Director of Music to the Band of HM Coldstream Guards in 2001.

Ian recently led Sandhurst to a prizewinning performance at the SCABA Autumn Contest in Folkestone following weeks of intensive preparation. His first public engagement as resident MD will be a concert at St John the Baptist Church in Crowthorne on 10th November.

Outstanding musical qualifications aside, the town of Sandhurst will welcome the fact that Ian is also a local resident who teaches students of all ages at nearby Yateley Music Centre. Band members have already given a warm endorsement to the appointment, and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with their new MD, building on the significant achievements of recent years.
