Salford International Composers Contest 2014

  1. The University of Salford are proud to announce their first International Composers

    In conjunction with a number of partners which include the Band of the Kings Division,
    PLC Music, Yewden Music, Offbeat Publishing and KMJ Recordings, the University will
    host its first International Composers Contest inviting composers worldwide to pen
    new music for Brass Band inspired from works created since 2000 in any style or genre.

    The contest is open to all ages and split into two categories:

    1) Youth band
    2) Advanced (Championship)

    Pieces can be of any duration up to 10 minutes

    Six finalists will be chosen and invited to an open forum workshop where their pieces
    will be performed by the Kings Division Brass Band and winners selected by a panel
    which includes Dr Robin Dewhurst, Dr Howard Evans, Dan Price and Paul Lovatt-Cooper.

    Each of the 6 finalists will receive a live recording courtesy of KMJ Recordings and
    feedback from the judges while the winners will be offered publishing and performance
    options with the University and its partners.

    Closing date is on Friday the 31st of October
