Saddleworth’s Area Test Piece Evening.

    An evening when all 5 Area Test Pieces will be played has been arranged to take place at the Boarshurst Band Club, Greenbridge Lane, Greenfield, Saddleworth on Sunday 28th February 2010.

    All spectators are welcome. Admission price will be only £1-00 per person.

    The Clubs bar will be open between band performances.

    The 5 Bands taking part are:-
    Boarshurst Silver Band.
    Uppermill Band.
    Dobcross Silver Band.
    Oldham Band (Lees).
    The United Co-op Milnrow Band.

    Each band will play one short musical item for warming up purposes followed immediately by the respective Test Piece.

    Times and Order of performance.

    8pm prompt. Boarshurst Band. Musical item followed by the 4th Section test piece.
    8.30 approx. Uppermill Band. Musical Item followed by 3rd Section Test Piece.
    9.00 approx. Dobcross Silver. Musical Item followed by 2nd Section Test Piece.
    9.30 approx. Oldham Band (Lees). Musical item followed by 1st Section Test Piece.
    10.00 approx. United Co-op. Milnrow Band. Musical item followed by Championship Section Test Piece.

    The Nationals night was a good'un so we're looking forward to this.

    James plays Solo Euph with Dobcross Silver and therefore 2nd Section. Kingdom of Dragons.

  8. You think we'll need to get it out before this job or do you think we'll be ok sight reading on the night? I hear there's some percussion in it!

    Just to remind everyone that the Saddleworth Test Piece Evening is tomorrow evening, 28th Feb at Boarshurst Band Club, Greenbridge Lane, Greenfield. Saddleworth.

    This is an evening when all 5 Area Test Pieces will be played.

    Dr Roy Newsome will Adjudicate each performance and will comment on the piece immediately after each bands performance.

    All spectators are welcome. Admission price will be only £1-00 per person.
    (Obviously space is limited so it will proberbly be standing room only)

    The Clubs bar will be open between band performances. (In the Members Lounge)

    any meals available for such a long stretch or is it liquids and crisps

    Thank you to all the bands and spectators for last night, over 350 people attended.

    I feel the whole evening was very benificial, certainly to the bands who partook.
    Even though some comments regarding performances were somewhat rude and uncalled for (one must always remember who is in listening distance).

    But then again two weeks is a long time and gives lots of time to make the neccessary changes.

    Dr Newsome enjoyed it immensely and gave each band a copy of his written adjudication.

    A very good evening which will no doubt become an annual event.
