Didn't think South Africa looked that good, just that England were rubbish. France, Ireland and Argentina must be pretty annoyed seeing the strength of some of the other groups. Has it ever happened that the seeds aren't the 3 big southern hemisphere sides, the 4 home nations and France? Argentina are much better than a few of them and Italy weren't last in the six nations.

RE: Friday's game - its the first time I've ever turned over from an England rugby game. We were shocking, there is no other way to describe it. Brian Ashton needs to have a fundimental re-think of the whole team if we are to even get to the knock-out stage.

I fear that this could be the worst defence of a World Cup title ever. I can only hope against all sense that we do something against the Samoans - but on last night's debacle beating them is far for a forgone conclusion

Agreed that England were Rubbish, but with South Africa only looking half decent, and still strolling to a 36-0 win, then there is definitely something wrong with the state of English Rugby. There was one decent performance in an England shirt, and he didn't even get to play the whole game. A man who has retired from club rugby, and still shows the rest how it should be done. Viva Billy Whizz. The Samoans must be thinking that they live on Christmas island, and not Samoa, to be in such a group. England out by next Saturday evening!

I think it's fair to say that none of the home nations are looking very good this year. Ireland were not good against Namibia last week and were shocking against Georgia. They got wins out of both but didn't deserve either!
  10. I am saying nothing here, but (whispering quietly) England looked pretty good - apart from 28 minutes in the second half aginst Samoa - and I am now confident we will make the quarter finals, probably against the Aussies (shudder).
Just interested, how well are the other Home Nations doing......
Wales - need to beat Fiji
Scotland - need to beat New Zealand (hmmmm)
Ireland - need to beat Argentina by 4 tries and stop them getting a bonus

There has been so much bleating about Ireland's performances here that it is quite difficult watching England matches!
That said, I think the eight quarter finallists will be:-
    New Zealand
    South Africa

And once it gets into a one-off match, anything can happen (France v Argentina ((world cup opener)) )

Andy - 5am - going to work soon

It may just be the difference on time zones, but this World Cup seems to be very low key.

Perhaps its because none of the home nations have a prayer of winning it. :)
  13. Neil Kinnock, Tom Jones, Manic Street Preachers, Joe Calzaghe, John Toshack, Bryn Terfel, Charlotte Church, Millenium Stadium.......
Your boyos just took one hell of a beating!!!!!!!

Andy, rethinking his last 8 prediction now......
  14. Now, I'm going for:-
    New Zealand
    South Africa

    There, I've proper decided now!

Andy - no more fence-sitting for me

Scotland just won 18-16. Can't have everything.
  20. At the end of the day, typical ****** Italians!!!!
Had the chance, but that missed penalty with 7 minutes to go cost them....
So just how far can the Jocks go?
My answer - another 80 minutes but that will be it

Myself, I have a sneaky tiny feeling we might just surprise the Aussies now!

Andy - giving up pizza and lasagne forever (some might say thats a good thing!)
