Well done and welcome to Portsmouth.
If you want a band to sit in with outside of the RM's, you're welcome to come along to us, Portsmouth City Band.
Our bandroom is about a 15 minute walk from the barracks.

    Congratulations Ginge!
Don't they make you do another random instrument that's in a similar range to your own? I seem to remember when Jessop-Smythe was looking at the Marines many years ago they told him he'd have to do the cello as well as his euphie...
Violin is to cornet as cello is to euphonium and piccolo is to squashed weasel...

    wow! squashed weasel :)

Once heard, never forgotten. It's a little known fact that the Sousa oringinally scored the squeaky bit in Stars & Stripes for Squashed Weasel.

I had a few lessons on the violin leading up to my audition asy ou can get in on either just cornet or cornet and violin, so thought i would try and boost my chances a bit! ;)

Seems to have worked anyway!

Still, would prefer not to play it!
