Confirmation on that Roger Webster has signed for Grimethorpe - his third spell with them, having previously played on the front row and on soprano.

    - I was anticipating that move and think it is a good one for both parties! Looking forward to keeping track of Grimey contesting this year.

I had a very good idea this was going to happen and would have gone to the bookies to put money on that if it was possible to do .

    No surprise there then

Only really a case of when it would be announced

Adds to an ever strengthening Grimey squad

May even take the place of YBS at the top table, although it would be foolish to ever write off the the best (& by far the most musical  ) conductor there is

I dont remember Roger ever playing Soprano at Grimey?

Just wondered if anyone can enlighten me when this was.

Also I heard he had been joined by another Black Dyke cornet player moving to Grimethorpe.

Anyone like to confirm this as well?

All the best to him in his new band.

    hi Mark
I remember Roger playing sop on Diadem of Gold for Grimey at the open in 1977 with Howard Snell conducting (before he went to Desford)
This was due to Pete Roberts having a sabbatical - he briefly played top man for Brodsworth before returning to Grimethorpe the following year

It was announced a couple of weeks ago that he would be helping out Grimethorpe at the RNCM. Offering and accepting the seat on a permanent basis is the obvious move for both parties.
