Hmmm....what do you all think of this? A grad student at Georgia Tech has invented a robot that plays drums...could it really work?! Its an interesting looking contraption but also quite amazing! Check out the link and watch the video from CNN....

It is difficult to know where to start here. The robot seems to have better dress sense / personality / looks etc etc etc than most Brass Band Drummers. Bet it probably dances better too.

Presumably you could just add buttons marked "rush", "drag" and "lose all concept of tempo and rhythm" to make it more applicable to Brass Band percussion playing ?

Nice one, we'll have four please!! Not sure about the bit that says it listens to the musicians and adjusts it's beat? We normally rely on ours to lead the accelerando! lol.

Hmmm....listening to the musicians and adjusting its beat?! I can't see it working...how it would it decide which of the 25 or so players different speeds it would follow?!
