I heard by text that Horbury Victoria won, then durham constab, then trimdon with Bearpark and Esh winning best 4th sect band not in prizes. I hope this is correct but im sure people will fill the gaps later.

A great day out at Ripon! This was the first time I have played at the Ripon Entertainment Contest, and I would just like to add my thanks to Ripon Band, and the organisers, for a well-run, and very enjoyable, banding day. I played with Garforth Brass, playing no. 1, so there was plenty of time to sample [many] Timothy Taylor pints. I had to leave Ripon before the results [or rather, before I fell down], so does anyone have the full list of results? Thanks again to all those involved in the contest, and sincere thanks to the Landlord of The Royal Oak. For tolerating my boisterous post-performance behaviour.

Congratulations to Horbury Band - you are obviously going great guns at the moment. Someone please give my regards to Arnold sometime. I was lucky enough to win this contest conducting Horbury many years ago. All the very best.

Cheers Dave, I've forwarded your message to Arnold. I wasn't playing with Horbury when you were conducting but I think I helped out a couple of times when you were at Chapeltown.
Not sure of some of the lower down results Tony but I wish I'd have known you were there you might have got a drink out of me.
