Richard Evans is to be the guest speaker at a charity event to be hosted by Killamarsh Silver Band on behalf of Bluebell Wood, children’s hospice on Friday 5th September 2008 at the Sitwell Arms Hotel, Station Road, Renishaw, near Sheffield S21 3WF

The evening is a black-tie with a four course meal and currently tickets have been sold to over 70 band members and friends. The event is open to anyone who wants to have an opportunity to hear Richard speak, enjoy some fine food, maybe have a dance and help to raise some money for a very deserving cause. Bluebell Wood, based in Dinnington, South Yorkshire, provides a community palliative care service available for children and their families resident in South Yorkshire, North East Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire and parts of North Lincolnshire.

Band chairman Francis Hargate said: “This is the second year we have run such an event and we are all looking forward to hear Richard speak. Last year we raised over a £1,100.00 for Ashgate Hospice and we want to equal or better that this year for our adopted charity for 2008.”

Currently 70 tickets have been sold to band members and friends with representatives from the following local bands - Old Silkstone, Dodworth, Barnsley Building Society, Thorpe Hesley, Dronfield, Shirebrook, Maltby, Stannington and Oughtibridge.

Tickets for the event, priced at £25 are available by contacting the band chairman at or telephone or text 0791 701 4506 or sending me a pm on The Mouthpiece

I'm pleased to report that the above event was a tremendous success, Richard Evans was a funny and entertaining speaker and really helped to make it a fantastic evening.

More importantly the band raised over £800 for our adopted charity Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice and with our final event for them this year, a concert to be held in Dinnington on the 27th September 2008, we are looking forward to presenting a substantial cheque to the hospice. It looks like we will be on course to better last years amount.
