Following the success of recent Masterclasses with Richard Evans and Quattro Brass, Pilling Youth Band have secured the services again of Richard Evans to conduct and host a Masterclass on the 24th February. Peter Moore will also be the guest soloist and take part in the rehearsal.

They will be joined by Poulton-Le-Fylde Junior Band and other young guest players for the day. First Brass, Virtuosi Instruments, are also going to be in attendance with a trade stand.

Last Friday Pilling Junior Band held their annual awards ceremony. The main prize winners were:
    • Jessica Darby - Player of the Year (Tom Redman Shield)
    • Hannah Parkinson - Most Improved Player of the Year (The British Federation of Brass Bands Shield)
    • Elizabeth Brocklehurst - Intermediate Band Player of the Year (The Shovel's Shield)
    • Thomas Jenkinson - The First Brass Cornet Prize (a brand new Virtuosi Cornet)
The Youth Band is honoured to be associated with the British Federation of Brass Bands and to be the first band to have an award in their name.

We would also like to thank Shawn Pagington from First Brass for donating a cornet for one of our awards.

In April, Pilling Youth Band are looking forward to entering the Junior Section of The National Youth Brass Band Championships. This will be our first ever contest.

On a more sombre note, The Junior Band were saddened to hear that one of our tutors, Ben Croston, was involved in a serious car accident last week. We hope that he will make a full recovery and be back at band soon. To send your best wishes to Ben please follow this link:
