well, i just broke mt cornet :(

its a prestige and the springie bit which pushes the main tuning slide back has snapped or something and no longer works properly. can this be fixed by me simply getting a new spring and putting it there myself? or will i have to send it to a repairer? has this happened to anyone before?

as a general rule i'd never advise doing anything yourself unless you know exactly what your doing. Just in case! You wouldn't want to invalidate any insurance or anything by doing something wrong and possibly making it worse!

There is a very good repairer who I have used, and found him both cheap, very thorough, and quick.

I had a jammed baritone mouthpiece, and a stuck first valve slide, both of which he fixed in a couple of hours.

Better than trying to do it yourself, it usually ends in expensive tears.
