I don't think the amounts cited for music funding would make the blindest bit of difference to hospital funding. Let's not be willing to throw away the few crumbs we have in order to stick them to the crust of someone else's loaf, eh?

Sorry, I'll remember to tip my cap next time I come across a top conductor and beg that he see's it fit to lower his standard enough to conduct me! Not that I actually think any of them would agree with you.

Perhaps this is another thread to be started, the fact that some people have forgotten our AMATEUR roots and the fact that we all pay to be in our hobby. The orchestra 'mind' has become to much to the fore for me in brass bands. I think it was Paul Andrews that some months ago suggested in an article on 4BR that £800 for a days work as an ajudicator was fair renumeration. He got a quick rebuke from ABBA.

It's traditional then to use ;) or :p when you are joking - leaving it out, one can assume that it's simply another one of your inane comments. (deliberate ommision of any kind of smiley)

how can you say that! Ian's humour is legendary!! How someone manages to get so much deep observation and rich comment on the world entwined in his subtle and intelligent humour is just breathtaking :)

And with that parting comment, I think we can safely lock this thread.
