    Cornets and Bb Bass required for Fulham Brass Band

    Edit: for current vacancies and contact details please see most recent posts

    Due to a retirement and relocation of players, the Fulham Brass Band is seeking new players.

    In the short term, we need two or three cornet players for late year contesting, in the longer term we will need two cornets (back row) and a Bb Bass. We can provide instruments if required.

    Fulham is a fast improving band that is looking to achieve promotion to the third section next year. That said, it is still a fun band and part of the social side is rehearsing in a place that has an on site bar ;)

    We have a busy schedule, and contest at the areas and at least one other contest annually; we do the standard type of summer jobs and carolling, as well as concerts.

    We also run the Fulham Brass Ramblers on a Tuesday night at Charing Cross Hospital. The Ramblers is a nine piece group that plays three weeks out of four, collecting for Cancer Research UK on two of the three weeks, and for band funds on the third. In the event of the band being inundated with potential players, those who can play with the Ramblers at least twice a month will be given preference.

    If you are interested, please PM me in confidence.

    Edited on 12th September to reflect that we're not going to Folkestone...

    Fulham - Cornets and Horns

    The Fulham Brass Band is currently looking to recruit cornet and horn players.

    We are a friendly (if mad) bunch of musicians, who, under the stick of Paul McLaughlin have been promoted to the third section for the first time.

    In addition, Fulham has qualified for the National Finals for the second successive year.

    We rehearse once a week, Thursday nights, at the Fulham Royal British Legion, at the foot of Parson's Green. This venue is about 2 minutes from Parson's Green Tube Station, and Parson's Green is 2 stops from West Brompton, where connections for Clapham Junction and Watford can be made.

    We are looking for Cornet players to join our front row, and Tenor Horn players willing to play second (with opportunties to play first at times). Players from overseas working in London are particularly welcome.

    So, if you fancy
    • some playing in the third section;
    • a reasonably priced trip to Harrogate for the nationals;
    • rehearsing in a newly refurbished venue (a lot of it designed with the band in mind);
    • enjoying the benefits of the reasonably priced bar on site;
    • some pleasant summer jobs;
    • very reasonable membership rates; and
    • a weekly bonus ball competition (usually won by the baritones, mind...)
    please PM me in confidence.

    Re: Fulham Brass Band vacancy

    Fulham Brass Band (MD Simon Jones) is a young, friendly and sociable outfit who practice in the Royal British Legion club in Parsons Green, Fulham every Thursday evening from 7.30-10pm. We are only 5 minutes from Parsons Green tube station and easily accessible by other forms of public transport and car. Please see our website for more information:-

    http://www.fulhambrassband.co.uk/

    We regularly have a healthy turnout of players at rehearsals and are now seeking an Eb or Bb bass player due to family relocation our principle bass player in July. We have a wide mix of players from professional musicians and accomplished players who live/study in the area to people that perhaps haven’t played in a while and just getting back into it. Our minimum standard is about grade 5.

    Whilst we specifically have a vacancy for a bass player, if you play any brass/percussion instrument to a reasonable level then please feel free to pop along one Thursday because we would never turn anyone away and a random ‘tootle’ may be ideal for anyone that can’t give the commitment that other bands may insist on.

    We attempt to blend a fun sociable atmosphere with musical development and excellence. The standard of music we are playing currently is around a good 3rd – 2nd section level i.e Royal Parks, French Military March etc. and we also play some lighter music too. Here is a link to our ‘area’ performance in March to judge our standard:-

    We have a number of exciting events planned over the summer and Autumn inc. the Great British Beer Festival at Earls Court, Greenwich Park, exchange trips and contests.
