Rochdale Citadel Band had its Christmas Programme sorted out at Band practice last night.

13 Events doesnt seem that many really for an SA Band in this period.

Of those 13 though 3 events are playing for in excess of 5 hours. :-|

We are also doing the GM Fire Brigade Carol Service in Manchester City Centre on Tues the 7th, which is also a long event as we play for the service, and while they all eat afterwards, back at the training centre.

Is this programme on the Low Side compared to other Bands or are we about average? I would be interested to know other non-SA band plans.

we'll be doing around 30 jobs as things stand at the moment. Then there are always extra's that come in late. The Band did it's first Job Last night welcoming Santa to the City of Ipswich with a christmas parade. That is Ipswich Queensland Australia

We have 19 events this year, 2 being all-day carolling with 2 bands. 5 of the other events only involve ensembles of varying sizes, so overall not too demanding.

One factor in this - apart from problems of availablity when many bandsmem commute to and fro for work - is that we have a major outreach event at the local 6th Form College on the weekend of 18th/19th, which involves all sections of the corps to some extent and demands much rehearsal and preparation time.

At least they've seen sense this year and switched the Civic Carol Service to our hall, so no humping all the gear down the road ;)

Some days there are two jobs and some days we get a break. Therer are also days when the band divides into 2 groups to cover 2 different jobs at once.
