Having just graduated with a music degree, I've decided to get some publicity-type photos done for any solo work that may come my way. What are your opinions on what makes a good photo of this type?

    Just don't sneeze!!!

I quite like the grey scale / black and white ones.
It seems a bit more classy in my opinion. Plus it means that you don't lose the quality if you don't have access to colour copies!

If you do go for the colour you need a plain background and needless to say both you and instrument must be extremley well groomed. And if they're colour they need to be glossy

perhaps ring up some top soloists and ask who they used? or your tutors at college? If you're really going for a solo career don'c cut corners with cost either. Promotion is an important part of gaining solo gigs. After that it's up to your performance. Good luck
