I am selling a Taylor Chicago Custom Model Trumpet. It is in immaculate condition with polished copper bell and lead pipe. I am selling it on because personally I don't get on with it for the genre of playing I do. I bought it brand new at £2800 so I will sell it for £2500 ono. This would be a sound investment for those trumpet players out there. If you want to email me personally my email is si_gray@hotmail.co.uk for pictures of the trumpet etc
    Cheers

doesn't look like it. It does sound like a lot for a trumpet. Wouldn't have paid much more than that for my EEbTuba.

There's a second hand / pre-owned / used / demo model Monette at Thompsons for $12000! Most of them are between $6000 -10000 so for a bespoke trumpet I don't think what is being asked is unreasonable - bespoke instruments will always be harder to sell second hand than an off-the-shelf standard model however.

Yes I remarked as much in a PM after my post. As to it being difficult to sell a special instrument type.
Still $6,000 australian is not much more and that is what I paid for a Tuba. You would need to be a realy serious Trumpet player to pay that kind of Money. Not to say the Trumpet concerned isn't worth Every penny of it
    Good Luck with your sale.

Trouble is, it doesn't look like a realistic amount of depreciation. New always costs a big premium, and the market for expensive brass toys has all but dried up of late. I've been trying to sell a newish trombone in good nick for a long while that would cost over £4000 new in this country for approximately half that, and getting nowhere.

But then, this is trumpets, so what do I know?

Anything is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay I guess. market makes that determination.
over here in Australia a new EEb Tuba is around A$15,000 - A$17,000 new
I paid around A$6,000 give or take a few hundred about 15 years ago. It is pristine condition, I imagine given the right market conditions I would get almost what I paid for it. Not that I am selling.
Brass instruments are very expensive in this Country. Buying my Sousphone from the states and paying the shipping made perfect sence.

Have you tried a trumpet-specific forum? Might have a bit more luck there...?
