I'm going to hazard a guess that not one of the favoured bands will have the misfortune of an early draw and those unfortunate places will be left to the WOE or LSC bands. My reckonings will be the same bands but organised differently

    BAYV Cory
    Tredegar
    Grimethorpe RJB
    Fodens Courtois
    Brighouse

    I'll be going for:

    Fodens
    Brighouse & Rastrick
    Tredegar
    Cory
    Flowers
    Carlton Main

My "dark horse" this year will be Kirkintilloch.

Wouldn't be that much of a surprise if Flowers were in the top 6 - they've had two 8ths and a 7th within the last 4 years. It's also only 4 years since Reg Vardy came 5th.

Mark Wilkinson isn't able to play for Foden's due to a lip injury. They're playing a man down as it's happened within the week deadline for sign ups. Does this alter your predictions in any way?

Based purely on current brassstats.com ranking, the predicted top 6 is

    Cory
    Foden's
    Brighouse
    Tredegar
    Grimethorpe
    Leyland

    Dark horse - Milnrow

Past results over last 60 years or so here

Anyone competing Saturday and worth their salt will be gutted Wilky is missing from Foden's end chair. Firstly for the guy himself being an outstanding musician and all round top guy (gutted for you Wilky - hope you are not taking it out on Meg ;)) Secondly any band who happens to be above Foden's Saturday (if any? Fantatstic band so a big if!) will do so in the knowledge they did so without one of the (if not the) very best end men in the business sitting in his chair.

Incredibly sad news all round - Just leaves me to wish Mark all the best for a speedy recovery and best wishes to the Foden's team. It's a great piece and I hope the audience enjoy listening - we could have another day of near full audiences given the music on offer.
