Yes, probably means we were 2nd in both the hymn and march.

Malcolm Brownbill and Ian Brownbill. I didn't hear Marsden so I couldn't say, I'm sure they were worthy winners. Our march was certainly beatable I thought.

Marsden, a band not to be underestimated especially at March Contests, now conducted by Glyn Williams, who is doing a great job.
A first section Band who have in the past won Whit Friday Contests at Delph!

Well done Marsden. Good Luck in the French Open.

???? not sure what you mean here, it is an open contest and 1st section bands are allowed to beat the bug boys

not sure if you were intending on sounding condescending or not!

From what I heard, Marsden were definately deserved winners. Well done all the bands though, was a fun day :)

Kudos to Barnton, we came 21st in the March and 23rd in the Hymn, in spite of fielding a bare 14-piece band, can't have been far outside the money on both counts. Keep up the good work guys. (And dolls).

Well, done Marsden. I heard you and you were very good.
Well done to all the other winners too.

What I don't really understand is why Marsden didn't win the 1st section too. If they were the best overall then surely they were best in their section too????

The best of each section not already winning the overall prizes it says in the programme. Spreads the wealth a bit!
