Sunday Night Brass The Newstead Welfare Band are tuning up to launch a series of eight ‘Sunday Night Brass’ concerts starting this Sunday, April 3rd at 8.00pm in the Newstead Miners Welfare and Community Centre Concert Hall. The first concert features ‘Newstead Brass’ and musical director Duncan Beckley. They will be joined by the talented youngsters of the Newstead Youth Band (Paul Whyley) We are delighted to be promoting this second series of concerts giving bands-people the chance to meet away from the contest stage whilst polishing up programmes for the Summer season. This year’s concert series retains most of the features of the 2004 events including an admission price of just £1 and awards for ‘most entertaining band’ and ‘best soloist’ of the series, but the series is extended from five to eight concerts featuring a different band from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire or South Yorkshire each week. All concerts begins at 8.00 pm and admission is just £1.
