    Sunday Night Brass
The Newstead Welfare Band are tuning up to launch a series of eight ‘Sunday Night Brass’ concerts starting this Sunday, April 3rd at 8.00pm in the Newstead Miners Welfare and Community Centre Concert Hall.

The first concert features ‘Newstead Brass’ and musical director Duncan Beckley. They will be joined by the talented youngsters of the Newstead Youth Band (Paul Whyley)

We are delighted to be promoting this second series of concerts giving bands-people the chance to meet away from the contest stage whilst polishing up programmes for the Summer season. This year’s concert series retains most of the features of the 2004 events including an admission price of just £1 and awards for ‘most entertaining band’ and ‘best soloist’ of the series, but the series is extended from five to eight concerts featuring a different band from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire or South Yorkshire each week.

All concerts begins at 8.00 pm and admission is just £1.

Sunday 3rd April Newstead Brass and Newstead Youth Band
Sunday 10th April Long Eaton Silver Prize Band
Sunday 17th April Bestwood Black Diamonds
    Sunday 24th April Dinnington Colliery
    Sunday 8th May Killamarsh
    Sunday 15th May Kirkby Colliery
    Sunday 22 May Blidworth
    Sunday 5th June Carlton Brass

There’s still space at the ‘Bands on Parade’ entertainment contest being promoted by the Newstead Welfare and Kirkby Colliery Bands with Kirkby Rotary Club on Sunday June 26th. The contest is open to all grades of bands and rules are kept to the minimum (including minimal registration requirements).

For more details on either the ‘Sunday Night Brass’ concerts or the ‘Bands on Parade’ contest please contact Newstead Welfare Band secretary Melanie Cooper on 07970 490773, treasurer Mike Allcock on 0115 968 0563 or come and find them at the Newstead Welfare on a Sunday evening!

    Hey HornTed

Next time you have a press release, why not post it in the User Submitted News section of tMP... that way your post will appear on the front page of the site for all to see when they first visit... :)

Killamarsh Silver are really looking forward to playing next month and to meeting some of our neighbouring banders in the Midlands. Got this booking through Hornted's orginal post seeking bands for the concerts; tMP strikes again.
