Practicing/playing at home without upsetting the neighbours

    Neighbours Darlings? Peers through One's Elizabethan leaded windows into the distant parkland and rolling hills. Totters off to the West Wing Tower with cornet to frighten the bats.

    Stanley, no I don't but I do use a practice mute and I never play after 8pm. I also live in the countryside and don't have many close neighbours but those I do have are pretty nice and I'd talk to them and work something out if it was a problem.

    As there is also a violinist in the family we have a pact and do joint practice sessions (in separate rooms!). Our theory is the noise is on for a shorter time span although the mix of Schindlers List and the Arban is not for the faint hearted.

    Yes, the non musician of the household has invested in some very good headphones!
