Pontins 2006

    We are thinking of going to Pontins this year. The test piece is Music for the Common Man by Kenneth Downie. I've never heard it myself but just wondered what general opinions were on it.
    Some people say its a bit like his Purcell Variations - if so- not a bad piece then!!

    Hi Lynda, its a cracker. Was 1st section area piece in 2000 I think, may still have the CD somewhere as we qualified for the RAH on it with Forester. Quiet start and finish I recall and cadenzas for most end chairs. Its a cracking piece pretty challenging but great to rehearse.

    Myself:I would not call it a brilliant piece to play having played it at the area in 2000.
    We have had better pieces in the first section than that to play over the last few years:2003,2004,2005 &2006
