    Pontins Youth Brass Band Festival 2006

    Incorporating The British Open Youth Section Championships

    PRESS RELEASE - 20/02/06

    Pontin’s Youth Festival Confirm Adjudicators.

    James Scott the musical advisor to the Pontins Brass Band Committee at its recent meeting announced that the adjudicators for this years Youth Festival will be Dr Roy Newsome and Dennis Wilby for both sections of the event.

    The prestigious British Open Brass Band titles are on offer with kind permission of Karyn & Martin Mortimer, to whom Pontins are very grateful, along with £3,500 in cash prizes and Trophies.

    The format of the competition is a 25 minute programme to include a set test piece, an own choice March, any arranged Hymn Tune and pieces of your own choice to make up the 25 minute programme.

    Our music consultant James Scott has chosen the following test pieces:

    Section A - River City Suite by James Curnow - available from Winwood Music

    Section B - Movements 1 & 2 (Towers and Chimneys and Lord of the Dance) from
    Partita Postcards from Home by Philip Wilby – available from Winwood Music

    hi im from enderby what youth bands alredy no that they are going to pontins in sep 2006 ? enderby youth are going for the first time scary lol wb

    i think we went last time (poynton youth) not sure whether i'll be there - it depends whether its before i go to uni. the band should be there though!

    Northop should be going again aswell. Hope they get more entries this year or they might not bother in the future!!

    whats the atmosphere like at pontins is it good eg the night life in the queen vic haha only been to the seniour comp in october times .
