Flowers Youth Band is delighted to announce that it has secured a partnership arrangement with the Cheltenham-based manufacturing company, PolySteel UK Limited. With immediate effect, the youth band will adopt the name of its new partner and become PolySteel Youth Band.

Under the continued direction of Tom Davoren, Flowers Youth Band achieved 1st prize, winning the ‘Boosey and Hawkes Challenge Cup’ for being the best brass band in the First Section at Gwent County Youth Brass Band Entertainment Contest in January 2010. They then followed up this success by winning the Gold Certificate at the Gloucestershire Brass Band Association Contest for youth and unregistered bands the following month.

Musical Director Tom Davoren commented on the partnership: “This is a very exciting opportunity for the youth band. This arrangement will secure the future of the band for future years and is a tremendous boost to the band’s dedicated and talented players who are committed to their music-making. I am thankful to the Directors of PolySteel UK Limited for their generosity and allegiance. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Flowers Band for their support during the past 2 years and wish them success in their own future endeavours.”

PolySteel UK Limited, formed in 2005, offers one of the largest Insulating Concrete Form product ranges in the UK. The unique technology of this construction material offers flexibility in design, durability in build and unbeatable environmental benefits. PolySteel UK’s Managing Director, Paul Boyce added: “In accordance with our corporate responsibility programme, our company seeks to support local initiatives. We are thrilled to be able to sponsor these talented young people and wish them much success in the future.”

At this time, the PolySteel Youth Band seeks some new players. If you are aged 18 years or below and are interested in becoming a member, please email Neil Kerridge, Chairman at neilkerridge@aol.com
