The PolySteel Band's first concert of 2008 is set to be a very special one, as the guests of PolySteel Band will be the recently formed Gloucestershire Youth Brass Band conducted by Steve Legge. GYBB was formed in 2005 to provide young brass players with the opportunity to perform at the highest level of youth music making. Over the last two years the GYBB has performed 15 concerts, recorded its first CD and represented Gloucestershire at the 2006 and 2007 National Youth Brass Band Championships. The GYBB is organised by Gloucestershire Music and the Gloucestershire Brass Band Association. The two ensembles come together at Cheltenham's Bacon Theatre on Saturday 16th February, 7.30pm for a wonderful evening of music entitled the 'Gloucestershire Millennium Concert' which forms part of the celebrations for 'Gloucestershire 1000' - celebrating 1000 years of the county. Music featured will include Philip Harper's 'Lionheart' which was written for the European Youth Brass Band and premiered by them at the gala concert of the European Brass Band Championships held at Symphony Hall, Birmingham in 2007. Other music to be played will include a foot tapping arrangement of Barry Manilow's 'Copacabana', plus joint items between PolySteel and the GYBB. During the interval of the concert, the Cotswold Flute Choir conducted by Suzanne Blewett will be entertaining the crowd. Tickets for the concert are priced at £12 and £10 concessions and can be obtained by contacting the Bacon Theatre box office on 01242 258002. Don't miss this excellent opportunity to see two of the county's leading brass bands sharing the stage for what is expected to be a memorable evenings entertainment.
