    Polysteel band are pleased to welcome two new players; ,Danny Winder, 24 and Paul Jones 27, previously with the City of Bristol Band.

    Danny started playing the cornet at the age of 8 and paul at the age of 11, both under the guidance of David Thomas, (Former principle cornet of the Stanshawe Band.

    Wychavon contest, last Sunday, was there debut contest, it was also the first U.K contest under the Polysteel name.

    The day went very well as the band went on to win the contest, Philip Harper, the bands talented musical director stated" I'm extremely pleased with the band returning to winning ways, after some excellent performances during 2005 which have gone un-rewarded" and goes on to say "we are also delighted to have secured the services of Danny and Paul, which strenghthened the band for the contest" Philip Harper Musical Director Polysteel (Flowers Band) . Mike James, the Band manager said"An excellent result, just what the band needed and deserved after a frustrating 2005" the band also won the best percussion section, this was led by Steve 'Weenie' Jones, the other part of the trio were James Andrews and Debbie Childs.

    In his notes Dr. Robert Childs commented "Great entertainment, the band and conductor in total control" Dr. Robert Childs Adjudicator Wychavon contest.

    Talking of Great entertainment, the band has a concert on the 12th November at the Bacon Theatre, Dean close Cheltenham at 7.30 'Epic Journeys' " a musical journey that features new audio and visual experiences" Andy Briggs PR

    Well done guys for Wychaven. :clap: good start to the new name! Long may it continue (unless you are up against the mighty SWT Woodfalls!!!!!:wink:)

    It is always good to see the other West of England bands up there winning contests.
