Play London New Year's Day Parade with City of London Brass 1 January 2015?

Discussion in 'Deputies Wanted' started by North Londoner, Nov 10, 2014.

  1. City of London Brass is playing the world-famous London New Year's Day Parade on the morning of Thursday 1 January 2015. The parade takes in Piccadilly, Trafalgar Square, Parliament Square and all the sights, attracting over 8,000 international participants and big crowds lining the streets.

We also get to play a post-parade concert at St John's Smith Square on the evening of Saturday 3 January 2015, which is just as exciting.

We would like to make the biggest and best impression possible and so, if you are a reasonably experienced brass bander, if you would like to help us represent London and the UK at this special event, and if you're able to join with us on the streets of Westminster on New Year's morning, which will be the perfect antidote to festive excesses (!), please do get in touch with us and we will let you have more details.

A music rehearsal will be scheduled on Wednesday 10 December 2014 at our Central London base, St Giles' Cripplegate in The Barbican, London EC2 (nr Moorgate Tube). And a marching rehearsal will be scheduled on Friday 12 December 2014 at our North London base, Oakwood Baptist Church, Southgate, London N14 (nr Oakwood Tube). We will be playing popular marches, supplemented by music from our Corps of Drums.

We're happy to supplement our ranks with individual players or to work with other band groups. We feel it's important to put some British brass into the LNYDP, which is otherwise rich in (excellent, in the main) American marching bands. We would love to share this special occasion with brass bander friends and so please let me know if it is of interest.

We're part of the North London Brass Network and there is a contact form on our website at www.northlondonbrass.co.uk or you can contact me via tMP.

    Thanks. Martyn

  3. Last call for players who fancy joining City of London Brass for London New Year's Day Parade, Thursday 1 January 2015.

City of London Brass is marching No.31 in the London New Year's Day Parade 2015, accompanied by the Majorettes de Montpellier Colour Guard. Muster time circa 10.15am at The Cumberland Hotel, Marble Arch.

We're expecting to put out a band of around 45 players, but need to give accurate numbers in advance, so if you are interested and if you can march and play a selection of popular, standard marches, then please contact us for details. Come and join us; help us represent a little bit of British brass banding to half a million spectators, 8,000 international performers and a worldwide TV audience.

We could particularly do with help from trombonists, front row cornets and euphs, but experienced players of all instruments are welcome.

    Thanks
