BBC Radio Lancashire in conjunction with Making Music, Voluntary Arts England and Lancashire County Council Arts Development Team will be running a "Play It Again" campaign in January 2014. This is a campaign to break down barriers to involvement into amateur music of all kinds and to encourage those who have previously learnt to play an instrument but haven’t played for a while to re-engage.

The main focus of the campaign is a music fair which is to be carried out at the end of January or early February 2014 at BBC Radio Lancashire studios in Blackburn. The aim of the fair will be to showcase music groups across Lancashire who wish to recruit more members and to raise the profile of Making Music. Also on offer will be a music instrument ‘amnesty’ for those who have instruments but are unable to play them. These instruments will be offered to local groups and new members on a first come first served basis. To back up the activity, the BBC Radio Lancashire helpdesk will offer support with referring people on to their relevant local group (backed up with an Information database listing local groups & opportunities) plus the distribution of Making Music materials and of instruments.

We are looking for bands and amateur orchestras to take part at the Radio Lancashire studios in Blackburn. This may be a performance / busking session which will either be live or recorded for radio, but also an opportunity for you to give information about how your band could welcome or support new members.
If you are interested in taking part please contact Janet Swan, Arts Development Officer, Lancashire County Council ideally by email:
