    Does anyone know what "Pulli sticks" are and what effect the arranger is trying to reproduce in the opening bars on 2nd perc ? :confused:

    Our percussionists used yarn mallets to hit the bass drum. That's what they told me anyway!!

    Well, the link below leads to an American website that sells Hawaiian Pulli Sticks. I think they make 'a Snapping sort of Clicking bit like a whip sound.' I'm a cornet player so I'll leave you to work out how they're played. Looks like a couple of pieces of Bamboo. Hope this helps.

    When we played it, we used some bamboo which had been tied together tightly at the bottom and fanned/split out at the top, then smack it on the ground or wall really hard!!!

    Volia, you now have a pulli stick!!
