The members of the Crewkerne based, Phoenix Brass Band would like to say a big thank you to the guest players and stand in conductors who have assisted them this year. So far, Gary Greenstock, Paul Slater and Gwyn Price have all taken up the baton for different engagements after conductor Mike Knapton was suddenly taken ill. Everyone has rallied round to support Mike, his family and the band and it is hoped Mike will be back later in the year. The band has recently completed several successful concerts locally and would like to continue to build on their strengths over the summer months. A glance at the record books has shown that this year will see the tenth anniversary of the band and it is hoped that it will continue to be as successful and widely acclaimed as it is now. This too would be a fitting welcome back to Mike Knapton. The main concern after the fitness of the conductor is filling the shoes of those players who will be moving on to other projects. If any players are interested in joining the band in any position they will be most welcome to come along to a rehearsal or just meet for a drink afterwards. The band is looking for Cornets in all positions. Details are available from Julie on 01460 62098.
