I read today that well respected Peter Wilson passed away on 6 August 2010.

Some years ago he was one of the movers and shakers in the brass band movement, including being editor of the British Bandsman. I came to know him when he published some of my music through the publishing company he established, Rosehill Music. His son Eric continues to run the company under the name of Winwood Music.

Eric had notified his composers that his father was seriously ill. My sympathies to his relatives and friends.

Sorry to hear this news. A true gentleman in every sense.

I recall briefly meeting Mr. Wilson at the Nottingham concert celebrating Eric Ball a few years ago during which he spoke eloquently about Mr. Ball and was clearly a gracious and impressive man.

I offer my condolences to his family.
