A new contest taking place at Lancaster University on Saturday 19th February.

Paddy has no contesting form to go on (other than Warwick) and so these prices are based purely on the early betting from the league...

Brass United (RNCM & Uni of Manchester) - 8/11 fav they seem to hold 'the cream of youth', but let's see shall we
Huddersfield University - 2/1 Will be a very well prepared band if P McC is in charge
University of Warwick - 13/2 the only nationally registered band, that cohesion could work in their favour
Leeds College of Music - 18/1
    University of York - 25/1
    University of Birmingham - 33/1
    Cardiff University - 40/1
    Cambridge University - 50/1
Oxford University - 66/1 boat race with Cambridge in the Students Union afterwards surely chaps!!
    Bangor University - 100/1
    Keele University - 100/1
    Edinburgh University - 250/1
    Lancaster University - 250/1
    Southampton University - 250/1

I'm ready to take your Paddy Pound bets on this contest.

Heard Brass United (Vaganza Brass) on youtube and sounded very good, not only do they have good young players they have a settled team of players for the last 2 years.
I will put a tenner on them plz!!! It is nice to see a young conductor do so well

I have just watched this video. Some tremendous flugel playing. Was it Alistair Campbell by any chance? A delightful young fellow I met a few years ago. I believe he is studying in Manchester now.

Leeds College has had to withdraw from the contest so there will now just be 13 bands taking part.

And also with brass united you get plenty of party animals such as monty campbell, mel whyle, mike wells, and andy mallon just to name a few! It will be amazing if they get to the contest at all :)
