Thanks :) We felt we played really well and maybe deserved better, but doesn't every one. I'm just pleased that we put in a good performance as far as we were concerned rather than letting ourselves down a bit on stage like we used to.

Congratulations to Friary in the First section, some of our supporters who listened to all the bands said you were a class apart. unfortunately we didn't get a great result and this seems to have opened a sore wound in the Yorkshire area thread. Again congrats to Friary, worthy First section Champions.

Congrats to North West bands getting a clean sweep in the 4th section!

not the first time ive heard that Besses Boys were on the wrong side of a result. they had a great sound, noticeably from the young back row cornets which is impressive in the 3rd section for back row cornets, nevermind the 4th!

And I'm amazed it didn't say anything about "not how the composer intended" in the remarks.... or maybe it did? ;)

You had Philip Wilby at the helm? Crazy!!!

What about before the event - not unknown for bands to get a "specialist" in to take them through a rehearsal before hand - gives a nice insight.

Given the numerous anecdotes in circulation concerning adjudicators telling composer/conductors that they don't know how their music should be played, I'd be surprised if anybody would want to risk that ...
