A little birdie told me that Dronfield were moving thier bandroom 100 yards up the road and competing in the Yorkshire Areas 2011 instead....not sure how reliable the information is but something to check :)

we have occasionally thought along a similar line, our bandroom is less than a mile from the border with oxfordshire, and thereby entry into the L&SC area

If we were the other side of the river that flows past our band room we to would be in the L&SC area.

Its not beyond the realms of possibility... their rehearsal venue in Coal Aston is indeed within sight of the Sheffield border (0.7 miles to be accurate!). Having said that though I've not heard of them planning such a move and given the quality of their current rehearsal venue and length of time that they've been there, I'd imagine it take quite a lot for them to move simply to get themselves into Yorkshire. I'm sure that Francis will confirm either way shortly.

If they are still in Midlands though, it'd be churlish for me not to put a cyber tenner on them at those odds!

It seems a bit implausable but as the Midlands have a larger and generally stronger 4th section than Yorkshire i'd make Dronfield...

    8/1

    in Yorks 4th section
(so in amongst Armthorpe, Deepcar & Friendly)

 Really? That's pretty lame odds from one of the quickest rising bands in the Midlands?

I'm sure you meant to say 'great value' (get some squids on them if you're that confident)

Seriously thou, what have they done in 2010?
    Last @ Wychavon
3rd behind GT Peterlee & Kippax @ Buxton (with respect I wouldn't describe either of them as banding giants)
and of course bottom of the pile in the Champ Section here last year

    (have I missed something Paul? ;) )

Phoenix shouldnt be put down, sure they didnt have a great run in the top section, I helped them out at wychavon contest and they were very determined to give a good performance which they did but unfortunately they were in a tough field. They are certain to return to good form back in the 1st section.

and I hope they do, I was just responding Paul's description of them as...

The form books suggest they are not, but I wish them the best of luck as I do to all bands. I'm entirely impartial (even if I do enjoy a good jousting session)
