Just wondered why Dronfield is so far above Dinnington when Dinnington won and Dronfield were second to them at the areas

Our form at recent contests presumably? 2nd at Pontins, winners at Butlins.

Form will never be based on last result alone, otherwise Hepworth & Frickley will have shorter prices than Dyke for the English Nationals or British Open, that ain't gonna happen (well, not this year at least ;))

whilst I would fully agree with this, doesn't the latest result show the current form better than something from last year in a section where players do seem to come and go fairly often. And, lets face it, some of these bands are going to change line-up before the finals (or in Dinnington's case complete their line-up).

Obviously the most recent result counts as most important but Dronfield had a sufficient form gap ahead of Dinnington going into Bradford and let's face it, only one band beat Dronfield, not a host of them

    well,
played the piece for the first time this week and wondered how people are finding it? seems quite high for 4th section? top A's B's C's and D's.
not moaning though, i quite like it and think it will suit our band very well.
need a very good sop player to play his/her part, good look to you guys.

all the best to all the bands who have qualified and good luck.

see you there in the bar...........

Not much comment on this thread for some time - how's it going for all the 4th section bands? Players sorted? Rehearsals going well?
We had some run throughs before the summer break but then had a tour in Belgium last week of August but in to the additional rehearsals now.

We are certainly enjoying working on this one. We are taking part in an open rehearsal on Sunday 18th Sept, 7.30pm at Niagara Conference and Sports Club, Hillsbrough, Sheffield . Its being organised by the South Yorkshire Police Band and there should be one band from all the sections taking part. Free entrance though they might have a raffle towards the costs. Oh and there's a bar

Just listening to Fairey's magnificent performance of Henry V on the Enigma CD. I would much rather be playing this than Portrait Of A City. It has everything that POAC does not - grandeur, majesty (duh..) and some truly wonderful dynamic contrasts. I can't wait to go and see what the finalists make of it - it is a seriously big piece.

Nothing to do with me Columbo, this is the percentages being bet so far by the league
