Wonder if the odds would be different if the piece hadn't been written specially for one of the bands... ;)

Cyber-tenner on Briggus please Paddy. 9/1 is too good to miss there.

And a cyber-tenner each on Grimey and Fodens to place.

Actually I think this is the most open 'Open' for many a year. 'The Big three' have all had spills in '10, some more major than others. Add to that the resurgance of Briggus & Faireys, Tredegar don't seem to know when they're outclassed these days either.

I'm certainly not ruling out the possibility of Horrid Smell having a nice 'Harry' to put on his mantelpiece but your Sandbachians are not popular with the punters at the moment.

Yeah, they're making quiet progress. The last big shock winners were Marple in '96 so we're due, we're definately due

    All sensible bets

Thirteen Ball!!! Surely you've joined my league, if not, WHY NOT??? just e-mail me and you're punts will influence my prices at the next update

Now that tMP predictions is open, time for another update and there are some clearly differing views...

Cory - 15/8 fav (from 9/4) including a 20.00 wedge in the league from one very definate player
    Black Dyke - 7/2
Brighouse & Rastrick - 6/1 (9/1) popular with the tMP predictors
Grimethorpe Colliery - 15/2 (11/1) popular with the league
Foden's - 10/1 (9/1) the punters have truly turned their backs on them
    Faireys - 11/1 (15/2) tMPers don't share the league's optimism for them...
    Tredegar - 11/1 (8/1) ...or them
    Leyland - 20/1 (25/1)
    Co-op Funeralcare - 33/1 (22/1)
    Rothwell Temperance - 33/1 (28/1)
    Tongwynlais Temperance - 50/1
    Virtuosi GUS - 50/1 (33/1)
Carlton Main Frickley Colliery - 100/1
Desford Colliery - 150/1 (66/1) about as popular as BP
    Hepworth (Cookson Homes) - 200/1 (100/1)
Kirkintilloch - 350/1 (500/1) one little flutter from the league
    Whitburn - 500/1 (250/1) can't give 'em away

I'm ready to take your Paddy Pound bets on this contest.

It's certainly going to be an interesting contest this year. Plenty of room in the piece for unforced errors! No favourite for me this tiime round.

Normal service has resumed it seems, the recent tradional favorites (Cory, Dyke & Fodens) have faired better since my last prices. Add to that some support for one of the less fancied bands from members of Paddy's league...

    Cory - 7/4 fav (from 15/8 )
    Black Dyke - 3/1 (7/2)
    Brighouse & Rastrick - 7/1 (6/1)
    Grimethorpe Colliery - 8/1 (15/2)
    Foden's - 9/1 (10/1)
    Faireys - 12/1 (11/1)
    Tredegar - 14/1 (11/1)
    Leyland - 28/1 (20/1)
    Co-op Funeralcare - 40/1 (33/1)
    Rothwell Temperance - 40/1 (33/1)
    Tongwynlais Temperance - 50/1
    Virtuosi GUS - 66/1 (50/1)
Kirkintilloch - 66/1 (350/1) a couple more league punters in for them, know something we don’t?
Desford Colliery - 100/1 (150/1) at last, some interest
    Carlton Main Frickley Colliery - 150/1 (100/1)
    Hepworth (Cookson Homes) - 250/1 (200/1)
    Whitburn - 500/1

I think that might be something to do with the conductor they have employed this year.........

I'd bet on Kirkintilloch being in the top 6.

Sorry to highjack this thread with a question.....does anyone know the date of 2011 open?

    Thanks!

What makes this an exciting contest for me is the pairing of conductors with bands ...

    1. Black Dyke (Dr Nicholas Childs)
    2. Brighouse & Rastrick (Prof. David King)
    3. Carlton Main Frickley (Philip McCann)
    4. Co-operative Funeralcare (Michael Fowles)
    5. Cory (Dr Robert Childs)
    6. Desford Colliery (Martin Winter)
    7. Fairey (Geneva) (Russell Gray)
    8. Foden’s (Howard Snell)
    9. Grimethorpe Colliery (Allan Withington)
    10. Hepworth (Cookson Homes) (Brian Grant)
    11. Kirkintilloch (Steve Bastable)
    12. Leyland (Philip Harper)
    13. Rothwell Temperance (David Roberts)
    14. Tongwynlais Temperance (Nigel Seaman)
    15. Tredegar (Ian Porthouse)
    16. Virtuosi GUS (John Berryman)
    17. Whitburn (Frank Renton)

BUT ... is Gary Cutt with Kirky?
