More interest shown in our american friends since their win at the US Open although they were hot favorites. On tMP predictions NO TAKERS AT ALL for Desford, you can't give em away at the moment...

I'd give Fountain City better odds than half the bands on the list.

Care to nominate a finishing position?

I'm quite interested in Rothwell this year. Turning a few heads to say the least. They are worth a fiver of my cash!

I'd like to see Leyland do well - it's been suggested that they're taking a risk playing so much freshly composed music, but shouldn't that be what BiC is all about?

Having heard and enjoyed quite a few of their performances this year, I'd expect to see them up there - an opportunity for the entertainment judges to reward musical innovation rather than slapstick comedy?

In fact thinking about it, this could be something of a turning point for BiC and the entertainment contest in general.

I like Jason Katsikaris, he is a nice bloke and a real character. However, the last couple of years their programme has left me feeling a bit ambivilent. The new music may well be fantastic and give them the boost they need to do well here. They certainly have the band, but will the programme cut it?

I know what you mean - mind you in the last couple of years, arguably their highlights have been the "new" stuff e.g. Katrina's Donegal Bay a couple of years ago and The Dreaded Groove and Hook last year.

I've also got a lot of time for Jason, the band movement needs more like him and I'd like to see a programme that isn't full of old warhorses or bass players in tutus rewarded by the judges. They've got to play it well first, having said that ;)

Weren't the bass players in tutus back in 1995 or so? It's always going to be tough drawing the lines between musicality/technicality/entertainment/comedy though isn't it as this is so subjective.

If any fresh and newly composed pieces fit well into the ethos of BiC then I am sure the judges will reward accordingly.

It's good to read 4barsrest (almost) live comments and updates as the bands play:
