Owen Farr

    I've read a lot about this tenor hornist Owen Farr. But who is he? I know he plays for Fairey. Is there any recordings, with him playing solo?

    The CD entitled The Music of martin Ellerby has Owen playing Ellrby's tenor horn concerto.
    The new Viruosi CD by Faireys i believe has a few solos from Owen.
    Skyliner has him playing Cappricio Brillante...

    Take your pick...Sure there are many more..he is an awesome player :D

    he mentionned thinking about doing a solo cd ages ago.. not sure if that was his own or just to be included on the virtuosi cd though.
    quality player and quality bloke though.

    Owen is my hero. He is an amazing player and a very special guy. I heard him play in Manchester once, what a sound!

    On the Virtuosi cd he plays his own arrangement of Arban's "Carnival of Venice" and a concerto for horn by Bellini. I heard him play the Arban accompanied by the other members of Sonar Brass in October, and it was a brilliant rendition. Here's a link to the details of the recording:

    Ah okay...Thanks for all the replies... Now there's not only Sheona, Sandy and Gordon. Also Owen is on that list now ;)

    What about me!!!! I can play Roy Newsome's "Sylvia" pretty damn fine! :D

    Although I prefer Gordon Higginbottom's Finness!

    i think he sounds like an old rusty G-trombone put on a crackly lp and speeded up :) but hey its all about opinions ;)
