I am so lucky to play for The Silsden Town Brass Band in Yorkshire ... the reason I am posting is, that at 50+ years old I am considered a 'youngster' ...we are fortunate to have full to overflowing ranks (6 basses, 4 horns , 4 troms etc etc)... our combined age is ..1371 years old !!! .... is that a record .. or can you beat that???

Kumeu Brass has a 'Vintage' band that plays on Thursday afternoons, for retirees who want a social blow.

The average age is 73 (as per their webpage), and there are about 25 of them, so that makes the total age 1825!

It's a pity there isn't a retirees band near Leeds ~ I wouldn't mind going out for a blow on a midweek afternoon.
No more turning out on Winter nights for me though Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr ~ Done my bit in that department !!
