Oughtibridge Brass Band would like to announce the immediate appointment of Gavin Somerset as their new musical director.

Due to their current MD Alan Coe moving away from the area, the band contacted Gavin and asked if he would be willing to accept the position in time for the busy Christmas period ahead.

With several years experience playing at the top level of banding and as a well-respected musical arranger and composer in this field, Gavin was happy to accept the post with immediate effect. Following his departure from Deepcar Brass Band in July, Gavin has enjoyed a break from conducting and has recently rejoined the City of Sheffield Brass Band on percussion. "I am delighted about the position at Oughtibridge Brass Band. Exciting times lie ahead, the band and I want to work together to succeed in the contest arena, as well as performing entertaining concerts for our audiences that they will really enjoy".

Oughtibridge Brass Band would like to acknowledge the hard work of, and give thanks to, Alan for all he has done during his time with the band.

The band's first large scale concert with their new musical director will be the Christmas Concert on Sunday 19th December at 'The Venue' in Stocksbridge, where they will team up with the 'City of Sheffield' Brass Band for an evening of festive music & carols.
