This year's ODBBA Entertainment Contest will be held on Sunday 9th October, again at Burford School.

This year the music adjudicator will be David Thornton (ex-Principal Euphonium Black Dyke Band) and the Entertainment adjudicator will be George Hedges (ex-Chief Constable of Durham Constabulary), a local resident and Brass Band fan.

One important change to the rules for this year is that the programme timing will begin from either the first note or first stage announcement – whichever comes first.

This year we have a rehearsal venue available (Burford Bowls Club in Tanners Lane, fairly close to the school). The cost of this will be £15.00 for 45 minutes and you will need to provide your own music stands. This must be pre-booked, we will not be allowing any band to book on the day and your timings will be forwarded to you after the draw for order of play has been decided. If you wish to book rehearsal time please indicate this on the entry form and include the cost in your entry cheque.

A copy of the rules and the entry form is available by emailing me at nigel-hall@hotmail.co.uk

Just a reminder that the closing date for entries is 31st August and we still have a few places available in each section (Unregistered Bands / 3rd/4th Section / Open).

Unfortunately due to a change in his rehearsal schedule with Brighouse & Rastrick ahead of the National Finals, David Thornton has had to stand down from adjudicating. However, David has secured us the services of his former Black Dyke colleague Brett Baker to take his place. Brett has worked with the ODBBA before, having run a successful workshop for us last year. We look forward to welcoming Brett for his first engagement as an adjudicator at one of our contests.

Seems reasonable odds Paddy - no glaring outsiders, are you feeling alright!!!

With only five bands involved playing starts at 12.00 but should be a closely fought contest. Admission prices are £4.00 for adults and £3.00 for concessions. Refreshements and Trade Stands available for you spend money with.

The address is Burford School Cheltenham Road Burford OX18 4PL.
