This year's ODBBA Entertainment Contest will be held on Sunday 26th September 2010 at Burford School, Burford, Oxford. The music adjudicator for the day will be Steve Pritchard-Jones, Entertainment/Presentation adjudicators are still to be finalised.

Entry forms are available from me (nigel@mmi-music.co.uk)

We will be again running three sections:- Open (for 2nd section bands and above), Section A (3rd and 4th section bands) and Section B (Unregistered/Training and Youth Bands). A maximum of 18 bands (6 per section) will be performing a 20 minute programme, so if you are not going to Harrogate or are attending the Wychavon Festival of Brass this would be an ideal chance to give the band a workout.

    Hi Nigel

Any sign of the medals and the trophy that wasn't returned in time from the solo contest?

We are waiting for the medales - we have a committee meeting on Thursday, I will chase this up again then.

It's a bit of a shame there are only four bands in the Open section again this year - still an interesting mix though, should be a good day...

Sorry to upset your odds Paddy, but Otterbourne and Cold Ash have both withdrawn from the contest.

Still we have 11 willing (and I hope eager) bands to entertain the audience over the day, so anyone at a loose end on Sunday should beetle down to Burford. First band is on at 10am and admission is £5 (concessions £3).

Contest is at Burford School, Cheltenham Road, Burford, OX18 4PL

Nah, BT, you're confusing Paddy with 4BR.

No - the odds just reflect the size and quality of the field, and that it should be like shooting fish in a barrel for a musician of your prowess with such a fine band:oops:

Just got back from the contest, again very well run and was nice to catch up with old friends and meet new people, Steve Pritchard-Jones and Duncan Wilson (Bass Trumpet) in particular.

Thankyou for the compliment, but even the best of us have the occasional blip ;)

Banter aside, it was the first time I had been to the ODBBA contest and I echo Dave's comments. A friendly, well-run day with lots to enjoy.

Congrats to Brunel and all those who took part today.
