The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain will be at the Proms this year. Prom 40 - Sunday, 12th August. Looks like a great programme - Altitude (George Benjamin), Wildfire (John Pickard), Chorale and Variations (Leighton Lucas), Blitz (Derek Bourgeois) and a new commission from Gavin Bryars called After the Underworlds. New fanfare by Bram Tovey too.

Sadly, this means that the annual moanfest about why brass bands aren't invited to the Proms will have to be cancelled this year. Sorry.

It does look to be a good programme - to be shared with the National Youth Wind Orchestra, conducted by James Gourlay.

Unfortunately for me it falls on the same weekend as the Olympic Mountain-Biking event at Hadleigh, when we are expecting to be involved with the bnad. Have to resort to i-player, then!
