SIDDIS BRASS kicks off tomorrow in Norway.

The usual rumours are swirling around the banding community as usual.

There is the possibility of an upset this year. As usual Eikanger-Bjørsvik are favourites for the Elite Section but Stavanger Brass Band are realing following the departure of many of their better and experienced players. They have a very young and "green" band this year, with rumours of unhappiness and players quitting only a few weeks ago so it will be very interesting to see how well they do.

    Prediction Elite Section:

    1st Eikanger-Bjørsvik band
    2nd Oslofjord
    3rd Stavanger Brass Band
    4th Manger Musikklag

    Hi Iain,

Yep played with Hornorkestra Stavanger as top man...we won!! Great performance from the band as a whole. Many are very young but they kept it together and did a great job. Having Espen Westbye on 2nd cornet was awesome!

The bands first win since 2000!

Congratulations to Manger Musikklag who, I have to say, deserved the win by a country mile. They really put a lot of thought into their performance program and played with a real sense of showmanship.

It will be interesting to see how Stavanger Brass Band will fare at Brass In Concert.
